Giving the youth the care they deserve.

If we still believe in the concept that children are the leaders of tomorrow, then for most families or even generations, the future is as bleak as ever because the mantle of leadership ceases to exist even before the infant takes his or her first breath. The outrageous numbers of infant mortalities, as well as physical and mental disabilities are due to more manageable, and in some cases curable diseases. Diseases such as malaria, pneumonia, measles, diarrhea, and the almighty HIV/AIDS are the most notable culprits. Other factors such as malnutrition and poor medical practices have also been significantly linked to the growing cause of infant, child, and adolescent health problems.

According to the World Health Organization, infant and under five mortality rates in Nigeria are among the highest in the world. Most of these deaths are caused by malaria, pneumonia, measles, diarrhea, and HIV/AIDS with underlying malnutrition. These deaths are also caused by having limited access to healthcare due to poor communities and even poorer health practices.

How Project Health Africa Plans to Help

  • Create an awareness program to better educate parents about disease prevention, good nutrition, clean water, good sanitation, early signs of illness, and the significance of safe medical practices
  • Implement significant vaccination programs
  • Provide needed medical needs, assistance, and expertise
  • Mandate appropriate parental involvement in the welfare of their children
  • Provide appropriate and needed medications
  • Enhance adequate preventive measures, and provide appropriate diagnostic procedures to detect these diseases in their infancy
